What is special about the diesel variant of the new Honda City?

Honda might have jumped onto the diesel bandwagon late but with Amaze’s success they have acknowledged the need to ‘dieselise’ their offerings. That brings us to the new Honda City diesel variant, one that Honda is banking on to push its sales. Given that the new Honda City diesel variant will have the same engine that is doing the duty in Amaze, the fuel efficiency is expected to hover around the 18-20 KMPL mark. 

Is that all?

The diesel engine also carries Honda’s Earth Dreams technology. It is aimed at providing performance without compromising on the fuel economy.  It is also less polluting and emits less greenhouse gases.
 

Have bookings for the new City started?

Bookings for the diesel began unofficially many days before the official launch with dealers accepting bookings at Rs 50,000 for both variants.
 

How long will I have to wait for the new City?

Honda is expected to roll out the new City from January 2014 and will be made available for sale from February 2014.
 

How does the the new City look?

The new Honda City sports a very contemporary styling. The interiors are largely unchanged but for small changes in the dashboard. It now comes with a touchscreen stereo interface and is Bluetooth compatible.


How much do I have to pay for the new City, for both petrol and diesel variants?

The diesel variant is expected to be priced around the Rs 8.5 lakh mark while the petrol variant will be tagged at Rs 7.5 lakh.
