Express Auto Expo 2016 brings to town  an automobile extravaganza

The first edition of the expo will showcase a complete range of automobile products and offers 

CHENNAI: The two day expo set to begin today (November 5 & 6) at the Chennai Trade Centre is designed to offer a range of experiences for visitors.
Starting from the oh-so-cool Indian made sports coupe — the DC Avanti, to thundering bikes from Harley Davidson and an entire range of products from automakers like Hyundai, Ford, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz and Honda, the expo will be a sight for any auto aficionado worth his/her salt. Here’s a list of what to watch out for:

DC Avanti
There is no doubt that the showstopper at the expo is set to be the DC Avanti. Designed and produced by homegrown automobile design firm, Dilip Chhabria’s DC Design, the Avanti has become one of the best known Indian made luxury/sports vehicles. It was unveiled at the 2012 Auto Expo in New Delhi.
The Avanti is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 250 bhp with a six-speed manual transmission. The car’s frame is made of composite high steel and the body consists of carbon composite, to create a strong, yet lightweight vehicle. It is a beast in everything but name. 

Cars, bikes from leading brands
The number of unique brands showcased at the expo are more than 30 and products on offer will include cars and bikes from automakers like Harley Davidson, Honda Cars, Mercedes Benz, Mahindra & Mahindra, Mahindra Two Wheelers, Chevrolet, Fiat and Ford.

Offers to watch out for
The expo will let customers and visitors examine and choose from an entire list of offers, ranging from discounts on automobile products and accessories and easy EMI options to financial packages like automobile loans and auto-finance schemes. The expo will also offer visitors with exchange offers and every visitor will receive a coupon book with which they can avail offers from event partners. 
Vintage cars


The Expo will also have a separate display that is set to entertain fans of all things old and classy with a separate display of vintage cars and motorcycles from across India. 

Motorcycle stunt show
Chennai based stunt team — PRO-Guyz Stunts Inc will perform four hour long bike stunt shows on both days of the expo. The stunt team is one of the most accomplished to come out of the city and have performed across India since their conception in 2009. The seven man team has performed more than 400 shows for Bajaj Pulsar Mania events held across India and various other independent shows. The team is also in the process of beginning a stunt school.

The DC Avanti has a top speed of 200 kmph
Delivers a maximum power of 253.5 ps from a 2.0 litre turbo charged petrol engine
Mated to 6 speed manual transmission
