Vodafone posts 13.3% growth in H1 revenue

Telecom service provider, Vodafone (India) posted revenue of Rs 17,580 crore for the first-half of FY 2012-13, as against Rs 15,510 crore posted in the same period last year, a growth of 13.3%.  EBITDA was up by 26% to Rs 49, 930 million during the period.  The company did not disclose the profit numbers for the first half of 2012-13.

Marten Pieters, Managing Director & CEO, Vodafone India  said that the industry continued to be under pressure owing to challenging economic environment and regulation.  “Despite these challenges, we remain focused on enhancing our profitability and our long-term commitment to differentiate ourselves with a strong brand, the best quality network, unique distribution and great customer service,” he said.

The company also reasoned that their capital expenditure of Rs 17,047 during the period as against Rs 24,261 million (2011-12) was ‘due to cautious site rollout in view of regulatory uncertainty and challenging economic conditions’.
