Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd has touched 50 lakh vehicle production milestone, rolling out its 5 millionth vehicle from Kandivali plant in Mumbai.

The company's 4x4 offroader, Mahindra Thar, was rolled out as the 5 millionth vehicle from the Kandivali plant, M&M said in a statement.

Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra said the roll out of 5 millionth vehicle is an important milestone in the company's automotive journey over the past seven decades.

"It is also a reflection of the commitment and can-do spirit of our people who continually strive to raise their game while producing world class vehicles," he added.

Mahindra's Auto Sector had achieved the 40 lakh mark in 2012 and reached the 50 lakh vehicle mark in just two years, the company said.

This milestone is the result of combined vehicle production from the company's six automotive plants, namely Chakan, Nasik, Haridwar, Zaheerabad, Kandivali and engine plant in Igatpuri, it added.

"In our evolving journey to becoming India’s leading SUV manufacturer, we have pushed the boundaries and taken on new challenges at every step. I dedicate this achievement to each and every member of the Mahindra family," M&M Executive Director Pawan Goenka said.
