A Mobile App With a Social Message

KOCHI: Sneha John, a post-graduate student who just completed her studies from CIT, Coimbatore, is on an effort to create an app, which will be a social networking platform for finding needs of the people and fulfilling them with the help of public support.

A company named Orendia has been floated at the Startup Village here in this regard. She is on an attempt to come out with the first such product, Crowd Face, her brain child. The idea of this unique product struck her when she was doing her final year MTech.

She realised that despite the presence of so many NGOs in India, making a difference is still a major challenge. According to Sneha, there is no optimum way to channel ise the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and charity fundings in India. Crowd Face will find a solution for CSR and charity funding where it can connect to more people for this cause.

The app intends to directly link the fund providers to the needy individuals or NGOs, and vice-versa.

In this way, it aims to act as a social platform where seekers can fulfil their needs through crowd funding and by making favourable connections. It also enables people to raise money to fund for various social causes without the need for middlemen. Crowd Face provides a platform for crowd petitioning, where users can express their views on various social issues through online voting. This platform will highlight the local issues and raise collective voice with the help of online mass petitioning. It also provides indigent artists a space to sell their work, especially handicrafts, directly to people worldwide who wish to support them.

“We are planning to sell handicrafts products developed by orphans and women through Crowd Face platform,” Sneha said.

This will also be a platform for social activists to blog on the relevant topics coherent with the idea of Crowd Face. There are also plans to choose top 25 activists from various fields and to help them post their views regarding various social issues.

Sneha is confident that Crowd Face will be a big success, because India has over 2 million NGOs working to better the lives of the deprived, and the CSR funds of Indian corporates every year amount to a whopping  `15,000 crore. Yet 90 per cent of our children never complete school and 27 crore people are still below poverty line and Crowd Face will bridge this gap between the seekers and the providers through the technology. As part of expanding Orendia, Sneha is also on the search to find out partners who can invest in the firm. This women entrepreneur plans to come out with more products as soon as Crowd Face is launched.
