Sensex Trades Flat; Capital Goods Stocks Gain

MUMBAI: A benchmark index of Indian equities markets was Friday trading flat at 40 points or 0.14 percent up as capital goods stocks gained.

Good buying was observed in capital goods, consumer durables and healthcare sectors, while some selling pressure was seen in IT sector.

The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 28,056.61 points, was trading at 28,115.40 points (at 01.46 p.m.) in the afternoon session, up 39.85 points or 0.14 percent from the previous day's close at 28,075.55 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 28,154.45 points and a low of 27,945.31 points in intra-trade so far.

The S&P consumer durables index surged by 229.14 points, capital goods index gained by 220.33 and healthcare index got augmented by 168.27 points. However, IT index slipped by 32.48 points.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading flat -- up 12.65 points or 0.15 percent at 8,506.80 points.
