KOCHI: For a two-time dropout to own a company in IT and healthcare sector in the country is a remarkable accomplishment in itself. Yes, the life of Achu G R, the CEO of ‘Page 1’, a SEO company, stands testimony to it and can be a motivation for young entrepreneurs in the state. Braving all odds, he has become a path-breaking innovator whose apps and software solutions are well-slated to transform the health scenario of our country.
“After dropping out of graduation for the second time, I was unsure of my future. It was at this juncture that I happened to meet Naveen Naushad, an accomplished freelance IT professional from Thiruvananthapuram. With the active support of Naushad, I understood the concept of freelancing over the internet and also the process of negotiating Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) projects with potential clients,” says Achu.
His out-of-the-box concept of thinking beyond textbooks and concentrating on a particular terrain gained him success. Within two months, Achu received his first SEO project worth $360 from an Australian client, who later expanded business and continues to be his client till date. Choosing an unconventional career path resulted in opposition from friends and family - but dedication and hard work brought in more and more projects for Achu, which in turn validated his career choice.
“But finally my family gave me whole-hearted support to pursue my dreams,” says an elated Achu. His father M Gopakumar and mother Remani Devi are both employees of VSSC Cooperative Society in Thiruvananthapuram.
Hundreds of projects later, Achu registered his first company (One Person Company) named ‘Page 1 Techno Precision Pvt Ltd’ with an intention to expand his services. The name ‘Page 1’ signifies the first page of Google, which is the most coveted spot for any webmaster. And just like he named the company, Achu takes pride in the fact that ‘Page 1’ has managed to rank hundreds of clients within the first page of Google and other popular search engines.
