NPCI to Roll Out Mudra Card

CHENNAI: The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) all set  to roll out RuPay cards. NPCI Chairman M Balachandran said on Monday that the umbrella corporation will roll out a new credit card co-branded with Mudra Bank. It is also in the process of coming out with an international card.

Speaking to reporters while announcing a pan-India e-payment literacy initiative for World Literacy Day, Balachandran said that the corporation was set on increasing the penetration of RuPay further and these cards were a measure to facilitate the same. “In August, Rs 2.10 lakh crore were transacted through ATMs and the number of transactions were 555 million. Over 80% of these were through ATMs and RuPay’s share was 15%,”  he said.
