NEW DELHI: Amazon.com Inc on Wednesday launched its Fire TV Stick, a streaming media device with voice remote that plugs into an HDTV and lets customers access its Prime Video and Netflix content, among other services, on television.

The Fire TV Stick, which looks like a large pen drive, comes with a quad-core processor and fast Wi-Fi and is available online and select retailers including Reliance Digital and Croma across India for Rs 3,999.
The gadget allows customers to better manage their broadband use and data consumption. Using the data monitoring feature customers can select their preferred viewing quality to help manage data use and configure their gadget to alert them before data use exceeds their preset limit. It also offers parental controls.

The e-retail major also released three new titles on Prime Video – Baahubali: The Lost Legends – based on one of 2016’s highest grossing movies, Oscar winner Suicide Squad, and a stand-up comedy special by Kenny Sebastian.

Amit Agarwal, senior vice-president and country mana-ger of Amazon India, pointed out that it is a revolutionary gadget that will change the way people watch TV. “It gives control to manage the time and freedom to choose programmes available online,” he said.

As a limited time offer, customers in India will receive up to 100 GB of free data on Airtel Broadband and 4G home Wi-Fi  devices, valid for three months from the time of activation.
