NEW DELHI: The iconic Nokia 3310 will be available across India from May 18 at a retail price of Rs 3,310.

“Our reinvention of this classic design is sure to make you smile. It’s got everything you remember, but with a modern twist,” said Ajey Mehta, VP-India, HMD, Global, which sells Nokia in India, in a statement.

However, competitors are not convinced, saying the model has lost its charm. “It may have more of nostalgic value and nothing beyond it,” said Shubhajit Sen, chief marketing officer, Micromax, at the launch of Canvas2.

The phone with a standby time of up to 25.3 days and a talk time up to 22.1 hours, has many utilities for a small and medium enterprise customers, who could give it to their employees for call-only option and save on data, says N K Goyal, telecom analyst,  CMIE.

“The good news for Nokia is that, defying the odds, ‘Dumbphone’ sales continue to sustain in India with a volume share of half the market, and the Nokia 3310 could find a niche there,” Sanjeev Sharma, former MD of Nokia, had written in Express early this year.
