CHENNAI: German carmaker Audi introduced three new models in one go on Thursday, significantly expanding its portfolio in India. All part of the A5 series, the A5 Sportback, A5 Cabriolet and S5 Sportback will be priced at Rs 54.02 lakh, Rs 67.15 lakh and Rs 70.60 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.
The A5 Sportback and A5 Cabriolet come with smaller 2-litre diesel engines, while the S5 Sportback is powered by 3-litre petrol engine. With the introduction of these three new models, Audi India has achieved the target of launching 10 products in the current calender year.
“The introduction of the Audi A5 range has further strengthened our product portfolio. We will continue to offer the best of luxury mobility solutions in India by introducing new models in exciting body types and by entering into new segments,” Audi India head Rahil Ansari said.
The company aims to primarily increase its presence in a specific demographic — young and deep-pocketed. “The new Audi A5 range will be primarily targeting the young minded population that is instantly recognizable, the ones who have always taken on stardom and success on their terms... The Audi A5 range will definitely catch the attention of the young minded achievers who have made a statement with their uncompromised way of thinking,” Ansari added.
Audi has seen its sales declining over the past two years. The firm was pushed down from the first spot in the list of top luxury car makers in India to the third spot last year.
