South Central Railway earnings grew by 12 per cent to Rs 13,673 crore in FY 17-18

HYDERABAD: South Central Railway (SCR) today said the zone's gross originating earnings registered 12 per cent growth during the last fiscal to Rs 13,673 crore compared to Rs 12,173 crore in FY 16-17.

According to a press release from SCR, it carried 379 million originating passengers, which is around 10.4 lakh passengers per day during the last financial year.

The passenger earnings stood at Rs 3,861 crore during the year registering a growth of 8.3 per cent while the zone loaded 103.048 Million Tones, with an earnings of Rs 9,260 crore, recording 6.4 per cent growth in loading and 16 per cent in earnings as compared to FY17.

During the last fiscal, 113 kms of new railway line including 73 kms of Humnabad-Gulbarga line has been completed, it said.

SCR has taken up the task of elimination of Unmanned Level Crossing (UMLCs) on war footing and 137 such crossings have been eliminated in the last fiscal, it added.

SCR introduced four new originating train services, which include 2 prestigious Humsafar Express trains while nine train services were extended.

Wi-Fi facility has also been launched at 28 important A-1 and A category stations and 45 railway stations with rural background in the last fiscal, taking the total number of such stations to 82.
