L&T climbs on new orders

Larsen & Toubro (L&T), an engineering and construction conglomerate, climbed on Monday after the construction armbagged new orders worth Rs 29.35 billion across various business segments in February and March 2014.

In the transportation infrastructure business, new orders worth Rs 10.35 billion have been bagged.

The buildings & factories business has bagged orders worth RS 5.62 billion. A major turnkey order has been bagged from Lucknow Development Authority for construction of MIG/Super MIG flats in Lucknow. The water & renewable energy business has secured orders worth Rs 5.53 billion.

The power transmission & distribution business has bagged new orders worth Rs 5.02 billion in domestic and international markets. An international order has been bagged from KAHRAMAA (Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation) to construct 132 KV GIS Substation at Doha festival city on EPC basis. Additional orders worth Rs 2.83 billion have also been received from various ongoing jobs of the metallurgical & material handling and heavy civil infrastructure businesses, the company said.

Shares of Larsen & Toubro are trading at Rs 1,239.95, up Rs 42.4, or 3.54% at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Monday at 3:20 p.m.The scrip has touched an intra-day high of Rs 1,241.60 and low of Rs 1,185.00. The total volume of shares traded at the BSE is 541,318.In the earlier session, the shares climbed 4.86%, or Rs 55.55, at Rs 1,197.55.Currently, the stock is trading all time 52-week high, which is above 82.86% over the 52-week low of Rs 678.10.
