Indian rupee moved up sharply on Thursday against US dollar on
the hopes the likely win for the BJP in state elections will
bolster prospects for the party in general election next year.
Rupee rose 29 paise or 0.47% against US dollar to settle at 61.77
compared to previous close of 62.06. It touched a high of 61.53 and
low of 61.88 after opening at 61.80.
