Sensex gains 124 points; oil & gas up, IT down

Indian equities are trading on a firm noteon Monday. Oil & gas and FMCG stocks witnessed a gain whereas IT stocks registered a fall.

At 1.28 p.m., the Sensex was trading up 123.54 points or 0.48% at 25,765.10 with 15 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 34.60 points or 0.45% at 7,698.50 with 29 components gaining.

Top gainers were RIL (2.74%), HDFC (2.40%), ITC (1.25%) and Axis Bank (1.20%).

Top losers were Tata Power (1.32%), Gail India (1.21%), Hindalco (1.19%) and Infosys (1.14%).

The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.94% and 1.30% respectively. The Oil & Gas index was at 10,881.33, up by 110.87 points or by 1.03%. The FMCG index was at 6,972.46, up by 61.44 points or by 0.89%.

On the other hand, the IT index was at 9,378.61, down by 21.9 points or by 0.23%.
