Sensex gains 168 points in early trade; RIL, HDFC lead

Indian equities are positive in early trade on Monday. At 9.19 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 168.17 points or 0.66% at 25,809.73 with 25 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 48.95 points or 0.64% at 7,712.85.

The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 134.98 points or 0.53% at 25,776.54.

Top gainers were RIL (2.89%), HDFC (1.23%), Tata Steel (1.12%) and Sun Pharma (1.06%).

Top losers were Hindalco (0.84%), L&T (0.25%) and Tata Motors (0.15%).

The Oil & Gas index was at 10,885.15, up by 114.69 points or by 1.06%. The Bankex index was at 17,746.13, up by 134.42 points or by 0.76%. The Capital Goods index was at 16,071.35, up by 110.76 points or by 0.69%.
