Indian equitiesremained flattowards closing on Friday. Power,
consumer durables and PSU stocks witnessed a rise. While IT stocks
registered a fall.
At 2.55 pm, the Sensex was trading up 17.88 points or 0.09% at
20,975.69 with 21 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was

The upward revision in the US GDP data raised fear among
investors about tapering of Federal bond buying program. Investors
are also cautious ahead of US jobs data, which will be released

(18.65 points), Infosys (10.75 points), Reliance Industries (10.23
points) and Hindustan Unilever (5.31 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Power Company
(5.69%), Coal India (3.76%), NTPC (2.74%), Hero Motocorp (2.29%),
Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.20%), and I T C (0.87%).
On the other hand, Housing Development Finance Corporation
(1.69%), Hindalco Industries (1.15%), H D F C Bank (1.13%), Bharti
Airtel (1.03%), Hindustan Unilever (0.79%), and Infosys (0.74%)
were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger
counterparts gaining 0.61% and 0.57% respectively. The major
gainers in the BSE Midcap were Amara Raja Batteries (4.48%), A I A
Engineering (3.68%), A B G Shipyard (3.22%), Allahabad Bank (0.92%)
and Alstom India (0.51%).The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were
Action Construction Equipment (2.62%), Adhunik Metaliks (1.24%),
Reliance MediaWorks (1.19%), Aarti Industries (0.44%) and Advanta
Sectors in Limelight
The Power index was at 1,706.10, up by 37.76 points or by 2.26%.
The major gainers were Adani Power (2.3%), Crompton Greaves
(1.89%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.64%), C E S C (0.61%) and A B
B India (0.33%).
The Consumer Durables index was at 5,830.45, up by 93.04 points
or by 1.62%. The major gainers were Whirlpool Of India (3.98%),
Symphony (2.95%), Gitanjali Gems (2.63%), Blue Star (2%) and Bajaj
The PSU index was at 5,959.83, up by 91.05 points or by 1.55%.
The major gainers were Bank Of Baroda(1.47%), Bank Of India
(1.01%), Balmer Lawrie & Company (0.99%), Allahabad Bank
(0.92%) and Andhra Bank (0.48%).
On the other hand, the IT index was at 8,426.10, down by 0.19
points or by 0%. The major losers were Hexaware Technologies
(1.62%), Mphasis (1.55%), Infosys (0.74%), Tech Mahindra (0.27%)
