Sensex remains flat; consumer durables, capital goods rise

Indian markets remained flat in post noon trade on Thursday
ahead of F&O expiry. Consumer durables, powerandcapital goods
stocks witnessed buying interest.
At 2.34 p.m., the Sensex was trading up 18.60 points or 0.09% at
21,051.31 with 15 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was
trading higher by 12.90 points or 0.21% at 6,281.30 with 23

contributed rise of 18.36 points in the Sensex. It was followed by
H D F C Bank (14.78 points), Tata Power Company (5.57 points),
Bharti Airtel (5.55 points) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (5.12
However, Reliance Industries contributed fall of 17.01 points in
the Sensex. It was followed by Tata Motors (6.34 points), Mahindra
& Mahindra (3.02 points), Tata Consultancy Services (2.98
points) and Grasim Industries (2.75 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Power Company
(2.73%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.98%), Bharti Airtel
(1.08%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.04%), NTPC (0.91%), and
Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.90%).
On the other hand, Hero Motocorp (1.22%), Bajaj Auto (1.15%),
Reliance Industries (0.94%), Tata Motors (0.91%), Hindalco
Industries (0.66%), and Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.64%) were the
major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger
counterparts gaining 1.11% and 2.40% respectively. The major
gainers in the BSE Midcap were CORE Education and Technologies
(6.37%), Allcargo Logistics (3.16%), Alstom India (1.96%),
Allahabad Bank (1.66%) and A B G Shipyard (0.38%).The major gainers
in the BSE Smallcap were A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services
(15.23%), Dr Datsons Labs (2.74%), Aarti Industries (2.32%),
Trident (0.92%) and Styrolution ABS (India) (0.61%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Consumer Durables index was at 5,814.66, up by 84.43 points
or by 1.47%. The major gainers were Gitanjali Gems (13.32%), Bajaj
Electricals (4.33%), Symphony (1.21%), Blue Star (1.01%) and Titan
The Capital Goods index was at 10,299.39, up by 122.15 points or
by 1.20%. The major gainers were A B B India (2.44%), Alstom India
(1.96%), BEML (1.81%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.9%) and Bharat

Wockhardt topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of
Rs. 291.50 million. It was followed by Axis Bank (Rs. 279.46
