Hindustan Unilever Limited Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director Finance and Information Technology Sridhar Ramamurthy has been appointed as Senior Vice President Finance for global markets reporting to Harish Manwani, Chief Operating Officer, Unilever.

The appointment that is effective July 1 will see the Indian Chief Financial Officer move base to London and be a part of the global markets executive of Unilever, the company said on Tuesday.

P B Balaji, presently Vice President of Finance at Unilever Americas Supply Chain Company, will take over from Ramamurthy as executive director finance, information technology and Chief Financial Officer, according to HUL.

“Balaji’s appointment was approved by the Board of Directors of HUL on March 11, 2014 after the nomination & remuneration committee recommended his name to the board,” said HUL in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Balaji joined Hindustan Unilever in May 1993 and has worked in different roles in the company.

Prior to moving to Unilever in 2011, Balaji was Vice President, Finance for the home and personal care business of HUL.

Ramamurthy’s elevation follows the Indian subsidiary’s CEO Nitin Paranjpe’s move to the Unilever leadership executive (ULE)  as President-Homecare. In recent times, Dhaval Buch, the executive director of supply chain moved overseas as the chief procurement officer of Unilever. According to a HUL spokesperson, roughly 200 Indian executives work for the parent Unilever overseas.
