Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has promised to sanction any request for prosecution made by the office of the Lokayukta with regard to corruption charges against State government employees.

According to official sources, the Lokayukta’s anguish over the State government not responding to its pleas came up for an informal discussion in the Cabinet recently. Lokayukta Justice Bhaskar Rao had expressed his anguish over the lapse on the part of the State government in granting permission to prosecute corrupt officials.

The Chief Minister also reportedly directed Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee not to delay the grant of permission to the agency to prosecute the officials.

According to sources, the State government is yet to grant sanction to prosecute about 711 officials, and  Justice Rao had warned the State government of sending a petition to Governor H R Bhardwaj on the issue.
