The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has announced that the real option entry for Common Entrance Test (CET) candidates will be delayed as there has been no communication from the Medical Council of India (MCI) on the status of medical seats in five government medical colleges.

In a post on its Facebook page, the KEA said: “The real option entry is delayed since KEA is yet to receive the finalised list of colleges/ courses for CET-2013 from MCI and AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). Real option entry will commence after receiving the final list. The dummy option entry site is opened now for candidates to complete their registration and get trained in the online option entry process.”

The real option entry online, which is the first step towards counselling, should have started on June 25. “We are awaiting directions from the MCI. Once we have it, we will require a day to set up the process and commence the real allotment,” said a KEA official.

The announcement of seat matrix for admissions to medical colleges has been postponed from June 15 to June 19. The state government has also given an undertaking to the MCI that all the conditions imposed will be fulfilled in a time-bound manner and requested the council to reverse its decision to stop admissions to 400 MBBS seats in five government medical colleges.
