Set in Kumbakonam, the movie is about the life of Kasi, a young boy who works for a local cable service operator.

Carefree and irresponsible, he is the bane of his father who never fails to compare him to his more responsible siblings.

Kasi falls for a girl but having seen him in many unfavourable situations, she is indifferent to his overtures.

However, as the movie progresses, a time for redemption would come for the youngster.

A situation would arise which would turn matters in his favour and earn him the love and gratitude of his father and siblings.

Rahul (son of choreographer Lalita Mani) does complete justice to his role as Kasi.

Debutant Uthara (daughter of Malayalam actress Urmila Unni) could have been guided better.

Most of the times, her expressions seem ambiguous.

She doesn’t have much of a role to speak of anyway, and is relegated to the background, when Kasi’s story takes a serious turn.

The disappearance of Kasi’s sister brings a twist to the tale. The insipid meandering screenplay suddenly peps up towards the later part of the film.

Film: Vavvaal Pasanga Director: Suresh Cast: Rahul,Uthara Unni,Sadhika, Muruganandam,Raja

Kasi’s sister who was accompanied by her other sibling to Chennai for college counselling suddenly disappears from the lodge they were staying in.

Director Suresh (of ‘Arasu’ and ‘Gambeeram’) introduces an element of mystery as the cops and family search for the missing girl.

Kasi who had been alienated from his family steps into the picture to search for his sister. But the interest is revived just for a while as the closing scenes slip into heavy melodrama.

Verdict: There is nothing really exciting for a viewer here.
