BANGALORE: More than 40 enthusiastic pet dogs participated in the Pet-a-thon organized today as a key initiative of Bengaluru Midnight Marathon 2010.  The Pet-a-thon is one of the key highlight event leading up to the Bengaluru Midnight Marathon this year.

The Pet-a-thon held at PetsSteppin, a relaxing getaway for pets amidst lush greenery and open spaces set in the heart of the city behind Manipal Hospital, Old Airport Road, was aimed at creating awareness on animal rights and causes.

The event provided a great opportunity for animal lovers to give their pets a great day-out, and a chance to socialize with other animals from in and around Bengaluru.

The funds generated through the Pet-a-thon will be donated to CUPA and PFA, two of the leading organizations involved in animal welfare activities.

The Pet-a-thon began with a 30-minute socializing between the participants and was followed by talks on pet care, pet health care, grooming and other aspects of pet management by experts from WAGS- the organization which helps in pet counseling, Anvis Inc.- an integrated pet management company, Muddy Pawz- the dog grooming salon and Cessna Lifeline- a veterinary hospital.  An awareness walk then followed where the pet owners took their respective pets for a brief walk.

The event also had few pups, which were brought in by CUPA and PFA for adoption. Speaking at the event, Neeraj Verma, Race Director- Bengaluru Midnight Marathon and key organizer of Pet-a-thon said, “Pet-a-thon is an effort to spread awareness on animal welfare and acts as a fund raiser by animals for the animals.  The Pet-a-thon is all about causes for animals.”
