BANGALORE: Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor recently organised a “Pasta Party” for the runners and the participants to herald the fifth edition of Bangalore International Midnight Marathon to be held on December 10.

The Pasta Party was held at LebMex restaurant, Forum Value Mall, Whitefield over the weekend to welcome the upcoming Bengaluru International Midnight Marathon 2011.

It was a symbolic event that happens before every marathon whether it is Barcelona Marathon, London Marathon or any other marathon in the world.

The symbolic Pasta party saw a huge participation from the organisers, runner groups, athletes and sponsors who were all excited to run in the upcoming Midnight Marathon organized by Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor (RBITC) to raise funds for the cause of this year’s marathon- “Run For A Child.” For marathon runners, the Pasta Party has become a traditional pre race ritual.

The value of carbohydrates for pre-event nutrition is understood by athletes in many sports, not only runners.

That’s because muscles run best when fuelled by carbohydrate- rich foods, such as pasta, rice, potatoes, breads and fruit. “Stocking up on carbohydrates prior to the big race is absolutely key if you want to give your best performance.

Getting the right food into your system is as important as a thorough training programme,” shared Gul Mohamed Akbar, Race Director BIMM 2011.

The new 10K run event that’s been added on popular demand to the BIMM races this year is being sponsored by GE while the 5 km IT City Run will be sponsored by Adecco.

The registrations for the ‘Run for a Child’ Bangalore International Midnight Marathon- 2011 (BIMM-2011) had commenced from October 27, 2011 and for more information log on to www.midnightmarathon.in.
