Been a long week at work? Why don’t you hit Aqua and try out their new mantra of calm with a soulful cocktail of Ehsaan Noorani and the Saturday Night Blues Band performing live on July 30 at 8.30 pm. Experience the true power of Blues music as it serenades your senses. It’s pure magic! Ehsaan Noorani is the Ehsaan of the Shankar- Ehsaan-Loy trio which consist of Shankar Mahadevan, Loy Mendonsa and himself.

He is a famous music composer and a guitarist. He was the guitarist for many music directors before he started composing music.

Ehsaan has also studied music with Mr. Bismarck Rodrigues, an experienced guitar teacher from Mumbai (Bombay).

Ehsaan’s roots are a testimony to the school of music that he hails from and defines the thought-processes that go on to make-up the phenomenon that Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy are in this part of the globe. He enjoys blues and electronica.

In 2010, Ehsaan Noorani became the first Indian to have a Fender signature guitar.

The Saturday Night Blues Band, one of the only mainstream blues bands in India, was formed in October 1999. The band, made up of some of the cream of Kolkata’s working musicians, has been performing every Saturday night at Someplace Else, the ‘Music Mecca of India’ - The Park Hotel, downtown Kolkata - for over a decade.

Jayanta Dasgupta - a veteran in the scene for over 25 years, and a guitar graduate from the Guitar Institute of Technology, Musician’s Institute, Hollywood - has been inspiring the band to play its forte of blues, blues rock and jazz blues, to a full house since January 2000.

Be it the down home delta blues of Mississippi, the chic and groovy sounds of Chicago, the smokin’ jazz blues of New Orleans, the gritty blues of Texas or contemporary blues, this band plays it all! Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Elmore James, Albert Collins, Albert King, Koko Taylor, Freddie King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Winter, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, B B King, Eric Clapton, Robert Cray and Susan Tedeschi are just a few of the artists on their diverse song list. Always open to experimentation, along with their originals they specialise in creating their own interpretations of classic blues standards.
