Year long centenary celebrations begin

CSI Higher Secondary School for the deaf at Santhome, Chennai, is celebrating its centenary year 2012-13. The celebrations were inaugurated on Wednesday. Minister for Social Welfare and Nutritious Noon Meal Programme P Valarmathi, laid the foundation for the centenary building. She praised the school management and missionaries for running the school to help thousands of children who are hearing impaired.

The one-year celebrations were inaugurated by the Bishop of Madras Diocese Dr V Devasahayam and he delivered a Christmas message. MLA R Rajalakshmi announced that `2 lakh has been allotted to the school for the construction of a building from her constituency fund. Various staff members along with the correspondent and principal helped to organise the programme.
