Namma Bangalore is India’s Hogwarts

“If you don’t love magic, don’t sell magic. Go sell t-shirts or something,” said Derek Delgaudio, an enigmatic figure in the magic world.

Although the euphoria surrounding magic shows has disappeared in our city, it remains to be a favourite destination for magicians across the globe. Testimony to the fact is the flourishing career of namma Bangalore’s magician Uday Jadugar who exports magic items as well as magic tricks and has a turnover of Rs 1.6 crore per year.

However, this witnessed a dip in the business due to China’s sudden entry in the industry of magic items. This has forced Uday to take up cost cutting measures and he has reduced his staff from 80 to 33. The magic items are manufactured in Chintamani on Mysore Road.

Speaking to City Express, Uday Jadugar says, “Bangalore has always been a hub for other countries to buy magic items. Definitely China’s entry has had an impact on the usual business. However, we still have a good number of clients from countries like Sweden, USA, Indonesia etc. The trust on our quality products have retained their association with us.”

Uday also manufactures and supplies customised magic tricks, all you need to have is an idea. He added, “If you are looking for  your concept to be produced, we can manufacture it for you.”

Uday has worked with numerous inventors and magicians like Paul Harris,Tim Trono, Mark Setteducati, Jim Rosenbaum, Sorcery Manufacturing, Pro-magic, Andy Amyx, Jon Allen, Jay Sankey, A M Carbone, Christian Engblom, David Regal, Ed magic, Paper Crane magic, Chris Oberle, Steve Haynes, Darryl Vanamburg, R Donn and Shaun Tailo.

Uday manufactures all kinds of magic tricks one can think of. The accordion cards is one popular trick he makes, then there is the advanced obedient ball where the ball stops and starts only at your command. “Give it to the spectator and it will not stop even if he pulls the ends of the strings,” explains Uday. “The appearing cane is another trick where the magician enters the stage waving a silk hanky in his hand. Suddenly the hanky is transformed into a long metal cane. I also have the long long rope, thumbtip which makes small objects vanish,” he shares.
