The Bangalore Metropolitan
Task Force (BMTF) has filed an FIR against former BBMP and BDA officials and
two private builders for alleged violation of rules in road widening work done
Based on a complaint by one L Nagesh, a farmer and a resident of Begur, the BMTF registered the FIR on Tuesday.
It names Bharat Lal Meena, former BBMP Commissioner, K M Shivakumar, former administrator, BBMP, BBMP’s Joint Director for Town Planning and the Chief Engineer (Major Roads).
They have been accused of acting in favour of real estate majors DLF and Hiranandani.
Both the companies have also been booked on several charges.
The complainant has alleged that a stretch between Hulimavu and Begur was widened in 2009.
“Though the widening should not exceed 18 metres, the officials had widened it to 24 metres.
It is against the Revised Master Plan 2015 of the BBMP,” the complainant alleged.
A BMTF official on condition of anonymity confirmed that an FIR had been registered.
“To widen the road, the civic body must obtain a copy of the government order on the same.
But the agencies widened the road without consent from the government,” the official added.
Last month, Nagesh had filed a complaint in the Lokayukta Court against Health and Family Welfare Minister Arvind Limbavali and 10 others.
Nagesh had alleged that Limbavalli, as education minister in 2009, had favoured DLF by directing Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike to change the original plan for road widening in which the DLF property was set to be acquired.
On the minister’s direction, BBMP in its Revised Master Plan, 2015 had not only changed the original plan but also increased the width of the widening, the complainant had said.
