FIR names officials, builders

The Bangalore MetropolitanTask Force (BMTF) has filed an FIR against former BBMP and BDA officials andtwo private builders for alleged violation of rules in road widening work donein 2009.
 Based on a complaint by one L Nagesh, afarmer and a resident of Begur, the BMTF registered the FIR on Tuesday.
 It names Bharat Lal Meena, former BBMPCommissioner, K M Shivakumar, former administrator, BBMP, BBMP’s Joint Directorfor Town Planning and the Chief Engineer (Major Roads).
 They have been accused of acting infavour of real estate majors DLF and Hiranandani.
 Both the companies have also beenbooked on several charges.
 The complainant has alleged that astretch between Hulimavu and Begur was widened in 2009.
 “Though the widening should not exceed18 metres, the officials had widened it to 24 metres.
 It is against the Revised Master Plan2015 of the BBMP,” the complainant alleged.
 A BMTF official on condition ofanonymity confirmed that an FIR had been registered.
 “To widen the road, the civic body mustobtain a copy of the government order on the same.
 But the agencies widened the roadwithout consent from the government,” the official added.
 Last month, Nagesh had filed acomplaint in the Lokayukta Court against Health and Family Welfare Minister ArvindLimbavali and 10 others.
 Nagesh had alleged that Limbavalli, aseducation minister in 2009, had favoured DLF by directing Bruhat BangaloreMahanagara Palike to change the original plan for road widening in which theDLF property was set to be acquired.
 On the minister’s direction, BBMP inits Revised Master Plan, 2015 had not only changed the original plan but alsoincreased the width of the widening, the complainant had said.
