Finding answers online

Tuition is a part of every student’s life but it also means a lot of time spent travelling to tuition centres. What is the solution? Finding a tutor online!

To make things easier, students can visit www.2tion.com, a website that acts as a link between students and tutors. 2tion.com, part of EdServ, an educational company, is a robust platform that has been created to address the education related needs of students, tutors, training institutes and parents. The website, which was started in 2006, has over 35,000 registered tutors for students to choose from. “Profiles of tutors are available for students/parents to review before making a choice of tutor,” said Sujai G Pillai, Edserv.

Students can view the profile, request for a demo class that lasts for 15-20 minutes and then choose the teacher they like best. Tutors are trained and guided on best practices to be followed while tutoring the students. “All the teachers are experienced, but they are not aware of how to take classes online, which is why we provide the training,” Pillai said.

According to Pillai, an average about 500 to 1,500 students visit their website every month and the traffic is a lot more during exams. The website also provides an option for students to clarify their doubts. “In case a student has a doubt, he or she can send an SMS with the question to 9244492444 and a tutor will respond within half hour with an answer!” said Pillai.

Students only pay the tutors, and the tutors have to pay a subscription fee of Rs 2,200 per year.
