Beauty of Kodagu holds you back

If you are planning for a holiday trip this season, head to Kodagu.

The enchanting beauty of Kodagu and river Cauvery will hold you back to the place.

We planned out a two-day trip to visit some of the tourist spots in Kodagu.

On our first day, we paid a visit to Kushal Nagar.

On day two, we planned to visit some of the popular tourist spots like Bhagamandala and Talakaveri.

We walked over two kilometres to explore more about people and the place.

So, we left from our homestay very early in the morning.

The chirping of birds, which is no more heard in Bangalore, trickling flow of small streams in the farms, fresh air was just mind blowing.

We then took a bus to Bhagamandala, a piligrimage centre in Kodagu.

The Bhangandeshwara temple is located on the banks of the confluemce of three rivers, Cauvery, Kannike and sub-terrain Sujyoti.

This is popularly known as Triveni Sangam among the localites.

As we entered Bhagamandala, we saw piligrims taking a dip in this Sangama and performing rituals to their ancestors.

The calm and the serene atmosphere captivated us in its beauty.

A s w e e n t e r e d Bhagandeshwara temple which is very close to Triveni Sangama, where Bhagandeshwara (Ishwara), Subramanya, Mahavishnu and Ganapati temples are situated, we heard the recitals of the vedic hyms.

This unperturbed experience in the temple, built by the Cholas prior to 11th century, took us to the state of contemplative meditation.

Just about eight kilometres away from the Bhagamandala is Talakaveri.

All excited to see the birth place of river Cauvery, we boarded a bus to Talakaveri.

We then took a bus to one of most sacred place, Talakaveri.

The scenic beauty of Brahmagiri hills mesmerised us.

We then visited the temple dedicated to Lord Agastheeswara, a place frequented by piligrims.

After visiting the temples we climbed the steps that led us to the nearby Brahmagiri peak.

Enchanting beauty of the misty blue Brahmagiri hills held us there for a longer time.

We returned after enjoying the scenic beauty.

This trip to Kodagu will remain as one of the most interesting trips and is etched in our memory.
