A city-based orthopedic and spine surgeon, Dr John Ebenezer, who was acknowledged by the Guinness Book of World Records for writing ‘Most number of books in a year’, has now managed to better his record by a huge margin.

Dr John, who wrote eight books in a single calendar year, has now written 108 books between January 2011 and January 2012.

Sharing his experience, Dr John said “My first Guinness record was for the maximum number of books written in one year by an individual.

I had written eight books between February 2009 and January 2010.

The previous world record in this category was with a Japanese author, Shinichi Kobayashi, who wrote six books between October 2007 and September 2008.

” Dr John’s earlier record of eight books was surpassed by an individual named Ryuho Okawa from Japan, who wrote and published 52 books between November 2009 and November 2010.

“I have bettered this feat by writing 108 books in a year,” said the proud doctor who is awaiting the certificate from Guinness authorities acknowledging his effort.

John claims that the books written by him are medical education books and are written to empower the common man with awareness and knowledge concerning orthopedics.

“No orthopedic doctor has written so many books for public health education.

The whole idea is to educate the people and create awareness about orthopedic health problems right from injuries to cancer,” said Dr John.

Health education books are of more relevance in our country since internet accessibility is not that widespread as in Western countries, he added.

Talking about the challenges he had faced, Dr John said, “Finding a publisher was one of the major challenge.

CBS Book Publishers, New Delhi, brought out 103 books, while J P Medical Book Publishers brought out four and the state government brought out one.

I spent 8-10 hours exclusively for writing books; the publisher team had put nine experts who worked round-the-clock for this endeavour.

” All books are priced between `50 -`100 and are available all over the country.

John who started to write books for the benefit of his students has written over 150 books.

“Efforts are on to make the books available online,” he says.

Talking about his next plan, he says that he will be getting into creating awareness programmes about Osteoporosis in schools and villages.

It may be recalled that Dr John, through his research findings, had come up with significant findings on cure of arthritis through yoga
