Six teachers of the Government Boys Higher Secondary School at Kalambur, Polur taluk, were issued memos on Tuesday for not coming to school on time.

Chief Education Officer (CEO) of the district Pon Arun Prasad, who conducted a surprise inspection at the school on Tuesday morning, found that six teachers were not at the school till 10 am. On enquiry with the headmaster, the CEO found that these teachers were not punctual or regular.

Prasad directed his subordinates to issue memos to four BT teachers, who were taking classes up to Class 10, a drawing teacher and physical director.

They have been asked to submit their explanation within three days. “One day’s salary will be deducted as punishment, if their explanations are not satisfactory,” said the CEO.

As per the rules classes should start at 9.30 am after the morning prayer, he said, adding, “The headmaster has been cautioned to act against teachers coming late. I have cautioned the headmasters during a recent meeting that they will also face disciplinary action if the teachers of their respective schools are not punctual and regular.”
