Ramamurthy Nagar police on Saturday arrested a 48-year-old auto driver for allegedly murdering and robbing his former landlady after coaxing her to accompany him to a temple at Pavagada on November 23.
Arjun, a resident of Kempanahalli on Hebbal Road, lived as a tenant in the house of the victim, Indramma (42), who used to work as a Home Guard. According to police, Arjun knew Indramma was a deeply spiritual woman and wore more ornaments when visiting temples.
A police official said Arjun planned the murder and robbery in advance. On the fateful day, he killed her with an iron rod and made away with her ornaments. Her body was found at Gowdatti by Pavagada police.
