Jaya Swears Yercaud Bypoll Winner into the TN Assembly

P Saroja, AIADMK candidate who won the by-election to Yercaud (ST) Assembly constituency by a huge margin, took oath as the member of the State Assembly on Monday in the presence of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

The strength of the AIADMK in the State Assembly is 151 now.

The oath taking ceremony took place in the chamber of Speaker P Dhanapal at the Secretariat. Saroja produced her certificate of election received from the returning officer of Yercaud constituency to the Speaker. After taking the oath, Saroja presented a shawl to the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister offered sweets to the newly elected member and greeted her.

Senior Ministers including O Panneerselvam, R Viswanathan and K P Munusamy, AIADMK MPs and MLAs were present on the occasion.
