Assuring small and medium scale manufacturers in the defence manufacturing sector of government support, Minister of State for MSMEs K H Muniyappa said they should aim to make India among the top five in industrial development in the world.

He was speaking after inaugurating a three-day long defence exhibition for MSMEs, ‘MSME Defexpo 2013’, in the city at the Dr Prabhakar Kore Convention Centre on Tumkur Road on Thursday.

“Since the Congress-led UPA came to power at the Centre in 2004, it has prioritised industrial growth and created opportunities for foreign direct investment. The government has also provided financial guarantees for local industries,” the Minister said.

He also promised to sanction 5 acres of land in Rajajinagar for the construction of a convention centre for the defence sector.
