Koramangala police on Wednesday arrested a 24-year-old BCA graduate who allegedly duped nearly 250 youths from across the State by taking a total amount of Rs 2.5 crore after promising them jobs in IT companies

Koramangala police on Wednesday arrested a 24-year-old BCA graduate who allegedly duped nearly 250 youths from across the State by taking a total amount of Rs 2.5 crore after promising them jobs in IT companies.

Dhananjaya G alias Raju Reddy, a native of Andhra Pradesh, lived at Ananthanagar in Anekal. Reddy started a company, Lifetime Soft Tech, in Koramangala 5th block a few months ago.

The company claimed to provide training in web design, Java and SAP software in addition to placement in reputed IT companies for applicants. Reddy reportedly collected Rs 1 lakh each from applicants who came from across the State including Raichur, Bidar, Gulbarga and other districts of North Karnataka.

However, the company did not organise any training classes or provide placement assistance for the applicants. One of the applicants, Shivaraj Kumar, filed a cheating complaint against Reddy with the police on December 3, following which the latter went absconding.

Police said the company was not registered and Reddy has used fake documents to show its credentials. An associate of Reddy is also involved in the scam and police are on the lookout for him. Police seized Rs 1 crore in cash, 605 gm of gold jewels worth Rs 17.83 lakh, furniture worth Rs 2 lakh and a two-wheeler from Reddy.

5-Member Gang Held for Attack

HAL police on Wednesday arrested a five-member gang who had allegedly attacked an associate of gangster Betthanagere Shankara outside a food court at Yemmalur near Maratthalli about a week ago.

Kumar, Alexander, Kiran, Tangamani alias Mani and Umesh tried to kill Ranganatha alias Ranga as he had gone to Yemalur to collect money from one Sunil on December 5. As Ranga and his friends- Shamanth Kumar and Guru- were sitting inside a car, the attackers arrived on two-wheelers and talked with Ranga on the pretext of seeking directions. They then stabbed him, the police said.
