A three-year-old boy was killed after being thrown off the two-wheeler he was travelling on with his parents when it rammed a BMTC bus on BG Road at Jakkur near Yelahanka on Thursday evening.
The deceased, identified as Likith Gowda, was the son of Ramamurthy, a businessman, and Suneetha, residents of Shettigere in Yelahanka.
Police said the accident occurred around 5.30 pm. A speeding BMTC bus, which was moving ahead of Ramamurthy’s two-wheeler, suddenly stopped in the middle of the road in order to switch lanes to reach a nearby bus stop. However, its driver reportedly did not switch on its indicator, as a result of which Ramamurthy’s two-wheeler rammed the bus. Likith, who was sitting on the two-wheeler’s petrol tank, was flung into the air and sustained serious injuries.
The family was rushed to a private hospital where Likith died. His parents are being treated for their injuries.
Yelahanka traffic police registered a case of negligence against the driver of the BMTC bus.
