Youth Sensitised on Nation Building at NCC Seminar

The national seminar on the ‘Role of Youth in Nation Building’ for NCC cadets was organised by 1(TN) armed Sqn NCC, D G Vaishnav College, on Tuesday between 10 am and 5.30 pm.

NCC cadets from Pachaippas College, Presidency College, WCC and other colleges in Chennai participated. Cadets from Thiyagarajar College, Madurai; Tagore Arts College, Puducherry; DKM College, Vellore; St Joseph’s College, Cuddalore; Government Arts College, Coimbatore and Kristu Jayanthi College, Bangalore also participated. Around 400 cadets attended the seminar.

The objective of the seminar was to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda by conducting a quiz and paper presentation and to create awareness on job opportunities in the government and Defence for NCC.

Lt Col Ajay Dhawan, officer commanding, 1(TN) Armd Sqn NCC, welcomed the gathering. Captain Dr S Santhosh Baboo, NCC Officer, 1(TN) Armd Sqn NCC, briefed the audience about the seminar.

Dr S Narasimhan, principal, DG Vaishnav College, said that he was confident that the seminar would sensitise cadets across the State with ideals propagated by Swami Vivekananda.

Dr J Arivoli, joint director of Medical and Rural Health Services (TB), State TB Officer, Government of Tamil Nadu, inaugurated the seminar and delivered the inaugural address.

The NCC cadets presented papers on the topic ‘Role of Youth in Nation Building’ following which Dr A Rangadurai, professor and HoD, Department of Chemistry, Vinayaga Mission University, Kancheepuram, conducted the quiz on the theme ‘Vivekananda life, work and philosophy’.

Siddarth Sriram of Loyola College came first for the paper presentation while Krupa Lakshmi S of Ethiraj College came second and Nandhini S of Soka Ikeda College For Women came third.

Hasim Ali Khan N F, Suraj Kannan P and Manjeet Singh Saint of AM Jain College came first in the quiz competition while P Infant Carmel Reju, Varun MP and R Vedesh of Loyola College came second and N Shanthini, S Vaishali and S Sanjana of MOP Vaishnav College came third.
