Three armed men stabbed a 24-year-old software engineer outside his house in Basaveshwar Nagar on Sunday.

The victim, Mithun Kumar, working in a private IT firm in the city, was rushed to a nearby hospital and from there shifted to Columbia Asia Hospital, where he is said to be critical.

Preliminary inquiries by the police revealed that Mithun, who received a call from his friend, walked out of his house around 8 am and was talking on his phone.

While Mithun was engrossed in the conversation, three men on a motorcycle approached him and sped away after stabbing him with a knife. Mithun, who sustained stab injuries on the abdomen, called for help.

Neighbours rushed Mithun to hospital.
