The Festival of Joy

The Baldwin Methodist College campus on Hosur Road was decked up for a special Christmas festival last Saturday. Bishop Taranath S Sagar, who is also chairman of Baldwin Group of Institutions, cut a Christmas cake and passed on his festive greetings to one and all. Addressing the students and staff, the Bishop said Christmas was no longer just a Christian festival, it is now a universal festival with everyone celebrating it with joy. “Though the sad thing is that over the years, the festival has been commercialised. We need to make sure we keep its essence and true spirit intact. Politicians may divide the country over different issues but Jesus taught us that everyone is equal before God and we should understand that and be united,” said the Bishop. His inspiring speech was followed by a skit that enacted the birth of Christ and underlined what he preached. The highlight of the event was carol singing by the college students in nine Indian languages.

Since Christmas cannot be minus Santa Claus, he made an appearance too and distributed gifts to special students and sweets to all.
