November-end new 'deadline' for filling potholes

It appears the filling of potholes dotting Bangalore’s roads by the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has become a drawn-out saga.

It appears the filling of potholes dotting Bangalore’s roads by the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has become a drawn-out saga. On Friday, the deadline was again extended with District In-charge Minister R Ramalinga Reddy promising potholes in the city would be filled by this month-end.

Reddy was speaking after laying the foundation stone for various works at Herohalli ward in Rajarajeshwarinagar.

Noting that BBMP had already started filling of potholes on many major roads, Reddy said all the potholes would be repaired in the next two weeks. Moreover, he assured of releasing special grants to begin filling of potholes on sub-arterial roads on a priority basis.

A BBMP press release issued at the function said `16 crore had been sanctioned to take up various development works including construction of toilets, bus shelters, community halls and other projects.

Mayor B S  Sathyanarayana, Palike ward committee works chairman A H Basavaraju and other officials were also present at the

function.
