In the interaction, apart from deans of all the departments of the university, representatives from various industry associations like FKCCI, CLIK, AWAKE, NASSCOM, BCIC, DICCI and BCIC were present.

Addressing the industry associations, Vice-Chancellor B Thimme Gowda said, “We have the highest quality of teachers with 3.75 lakh undergraduate students, but the employability of our graduates is low. Following this we have decided to restructure our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.”

“The problem with the majority of our students is the lack of communication and language skills. We are also aiming at solving that problem by introducing flexibility to the course and bringing in language and communication skills to make them more employable,” said Gowda.

The Vice-Chancellor said for the purpose of creating employment opportunities for the students, the university was setting up a full fledged central placement cell. “We want the industries support for this initiative,” Gowda added.

He requested all industry representatives who were present in the meeting to support Bangalore University by recruiting BU graduates. He also invited suggestions from industry.
