The Onam joy continues

Kalavedi, a socio-cultural organisation, celebrated ‘Onotsavam 2013’ in a grand manner at Kalabhavan on Sunday. The festivities started with competitions for pookkalam and painting for members of Kalavedi and their children.     

Kalpetta Narayanan, renowned writer, was the chief guest, while guest of honour was Jagadeesh, Malayalam actor. M K Kuryakose, president, Kalavedi delivered the welcome address. N J Menon, vice-president and chairman, Onam Celebration Committee and Joy Thomas, treasurer, introduced the special guests. Vote of thanks was given by Jacob Verghese, general secretary.

Gold medals for academic excellence were presented to children of Kalavedi members. The programme was followed by Nadan Pattukal by Gramevedi, Payyanur, double Thayambaka by Cheruthazham Chandran and Udayan Namoodiri and team and Ottan Thullal by Kalamandalam Mohanakrishann and team. A dance performance by Drishti Art Centre led by Anuradha Vikranth delighted all.  The Ganamela by Biju Narayanan, Selin Jose and team and mimicry by Vodafone Comedy Stars and Rasikaraja were the highlight of the event.
