Nine injured after lift collapses

Nine people were injured after a lift collapsed at the third floor of a building in Maruthinagar of Sahakaranagar on Wednesday evening.

Nine people were injured after a  lift collapsed at the third floor of a building in Maruthinagar of Sahakaranagar on Wednesday evening.

The injured have been identified as Janardhan, Anil, Murthy, Doddanarasappa, Ganesh, Naveen, Rajashekar, Ravikumar and the lift operator. Murty and Ravikumar sustained serious head injuries. They are being treated at Baptist Hospital. Their condition is critical, said the police.

The injured were working as volunteers at a drug manufacturing unit of Slimmer Research Centre.

Around 4.30 pm they took the lift from the ground floor. There was a sudden technical problem and when the lift reached the third floor it collapsed.

The lift was installed by Total Management Solutions in Koramangala.  The police  registered a case against Slimmer Research Centre and the company which installed it.
