A 31-year-old techie fell to her death from the 11th floor of an apartment in Kodigehalli early Wednesday morning. She was trying to jump from one balcony to another, according to the police.

The deceased has been identified as Kavitha, daughter of Arumugam from Rajajinagar. Police said the incident took place at Alpine Pyramid apartment in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar at Canara Bank Layout at 2.30 am.

Kavitha used to work for a software company in the US. She came to Bangalore four months ago to attend her sister’s wedding and decided to stay back and look for a job in Bangalore.

Police said Kavitha’s parents went to Kerala on Tuesday. As Kavitha was alone, she decided to attend a party at her doctor friend’s house in Kodigehalli. The party ended at 2 am and since it was late, Kavitha decided to stay with her friend Kalyan Verma, a wildlife photographer, who lives on the 11th floor of Alpine Pyramid.

Her relatives said Kavitha, as child, used to jump compound walls and from one building to the another. She decided to jump from the 11th floor to another, lost her balance and fell to her death. The body was sent to M S Ramaiah Hospital for autopsy. “We will study the report to check whether Kavitha was drunk or not,” said Kodigehalli police, who registered a case following a complaint by Kavitha’s uncle.
