If the number of potholes in the city has you worried about the state of your back or even for your safety, pick up your phone and give a missed call. That is all it takes to register your displeasure with the authorities.
A new campaign by Jhatkaa.org, an NGO, has led to around 4,000 missed calls being registered in the past few days.
The campaign, which was launched after an incident in which a designer was grievously injured by a pothole on Old Madras Road, will seek to put pressure on officials to fix the roads of the city.
“With Rs 700 crore being earmarked for laying roads this year, this campaign is more important than ever. We need to advocate for experienced engineers to do the job, not just the cheapest contractor they find so that instead of just filling the holes with gravel and dirt, there is a proper long-term solution,” said Keerthana Chandrashekar of Jhatkaa.org.
The campaign also promises to keep its members updated with regular messages regarding the progress. The campaigners plan on meeting the BBMP Commissioner Lakshminarayana on Saturday with the list of missed calls received till now.
