The Lokayukta police trapped a revenue inspector red-handed on Tuesday while allegedly accepting a bribe of `20,000.

The complainant K Lakshminarayana and his friend Dolfy D’Cunha had purchased an industrial shed in Peenya Industrial Estate. They had applied for khata bifurcation of the property a month ago. When there was a delay, they had approached revenue inspector B S Sriram, who allegedly demanded a bribe of `2 lakh.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, Lakshminarayana filed a complaint with the Lokayukta on October 7. On Tuesday, a trap was laid and the official was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 20,000, as a token advance of the bribe. Lokayukta police arrested him and recovered the bribe amount.
