A 49-year-old woman was killed while her son escaped with minor injuries after a speeding car knocked them down near Doddanekkundi Cirle in KR Puram on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Khasim Bee and the injured Lal Saab, a painter. They hail from Raichur and were residing at Dodanekkundi.
The police said the accident occurred around 10.15 pm when they were crossing the road to go to a relative’s house.
A speeding Tata Safari SUV, heading towards KR Puram, knocked them down and Khasim Bee died on the spot as the car ran over her. Saab was rushed to a private hospital, where his condition is said to be stable.
The SUV driver fled from the scene. KR Puram traffic police have registered a case and are investigating.
