Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday honoured police personnel who were involved in the operations to nab terror suspects in Chennai and Putur. 

She presented cheques for Rs 5 lakh each to 21 personnel from the rank of constable to Superintendent of Police as a reward for their bravery during the operations. 

When the police personnel met her at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister said, “I have always maintained that the Tamil Nadu Police Force is the best in the country and once again I am very proud and happy that you have proved me right. This is a significant achievement for the Tamil Nadu Police which will be recorded in history as one of the very splendid achievements.”

She said the cash award was a goodwill gesture by the State government and not a value paid for their sense of duty and service.

“We are proud of you. Already, the Tamil Nadu police have many achievements and nabbing terror suspects is yet another achievement in the history of Tamil Nadu police. I hope you all will bring more laurels to the State in the future,” she said.

The Chief Minister congratulated DGP K Ramanujam, DGP CBCID  Narindra Pal Singh, ADGP (Intelligence), Ashok Kumar, Crime Branch ADGP Karan Singha, IG (Intelligence) Amaresh Puri, IG (Intelligence - Internal Security), P Kannappan and Special Investigation Division IG Maheshkumar Aggarwal, for taking speedy steps to investigate the cases and nab the suspects.

All the police personnel who were involved from the rank of constable to Additional Superintendent of Police have been given a one step accelerated promotion for their bravery shown in the operations.
