Bus services to Andhra resume

The Karntaka State Road Transport Corporation has quietly resumed its 451 bus services to Andhra Pradesh.

The Karntaka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has quietly resumed its 451 bus services to Andhra Pradesh.

The bus services had been stopped since July 31 this year as protests escalated in that state over its bifurcation into Seemandhra and Telangana.

This move had led to a loss of business of around Rs 40 lakh daily, Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy had announced. KSRTC lost out on profits from the operation of extra services for the festival.

“We have resumed all the bus services since Saturday. The response has been encouraging. There are no instances of violence reported yet,” said a senior official.

“We are yet to decide on special buses. We will take a call if existing services are allowed to operate normally,” an official said.
